Ethnic group of our Amazon, inhabit the riversides, Apaporis, Caquetá, Algodon and Putumayo in the Peruvian Amazon, on the border with Colombia. They speak the Ocaine language that is found within the Huitoto linguistic family,
They are also known as Dyo’xaiya or Ivo’tsa. The Ocainas have history and cultural characteristics with the Huitotos, Resígaros and Andoques.
Description:
The Dyooroxao is the main traditional product of the Ocaina tribe. They use it in their ritual ceremonies to envision, respond to the patient and communicate with Mother Earth, the effect is similar to ayahuasca. The result is a strong extract of dark colored cumala and pashaca. To use it they put it in their mouth and they consume slowly. This form of coke, also used by the people of Huitotos, transforms the effect of dyooroxao in a sense not only visionary but also medicinal. Therefore, we have two elements that work in a single ceremony: as a tonic-visionary medicine and energy protector, key to visioning, to open consciousness and to cleanse the mind.
